Mohammed Salisu Abdul Karim is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Southampton.
According to reports gathered by Talksghana.com, the Southampton defender has finally given his approval to play for the Black Stars of Ghana after several attempt from the Ghana Football Association failed.
GFA president Kurt Okraku recently visited Mohammed Salisu when he arrived in Ghana to hold talks with him on playing for Ghana. it is believed that the Southampton defender gave him his approval to be available for the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.
Salisu started his senior career with Valladolid, featuring for the reserve side before making his first team debut in 2019.
In November 2019, Salisu received his first call-up to Ghana’s senior squad, after being named by Kwesi Appiah in the squad for the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe. He withdrew from the squad citing injury problems. Salisu is set to play his first game for Ghana under Otoo Addo at the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
