Black Stars Goalkeeper Richard Ofori who also plays his club football for South African Club Orlando Pirates has in an interview says he isn’t currently thinking about the World Cup.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to kick off on the 20th of November 2022 in Qatar. Richard Ofori has been named in the Black StarsBlack Stars squad as on of the Goalkeepers for Qatar World Cup.
In an interview, Ofori said he is currently focussing on his club because he cannot represent the national team if he is not fit in the club level.
“I don’t think about the national team at the moment because if you are not fit in your club, the national team is useless,” Ofori stated, via Sowetan Live. “The most important thing is I need to perform and do my best so that when they call, I know I am ready.
“If you are not performing in your club when you go there, mentally you are weak. And the World Cup stage is the biggest dream of every young player to play there.
“At the moment, I’m thinking about the club, and how I will help them achieve and be successful this season. That’s my ambition.”
Richard Ofori helped Orlando Pirates to reach the final of the CAF Confederation cup last season but lost the trophy to RS Berkane.
