Ghana striker Felix Afena-Gyan has penned a new long-term contract with As Roma after an explosive senior team debut last season.
The hot goalscoring prospect signed a four-year deal with AS Roma which runs to the end of 30th June, 2022.
“I am really pleased to have signed this contract: every since I arrived at this club my aim was to reach the first team and since I did that my life has changed a lot.
“Now I need to just concentrate on continuing to improve, I am motived to start the new season in the best possible way.” Afena-Gyan said with happiness after penning down the new contract.
Afena-Gyan joined the club’s youth ranks in earlier on in the season and quickly progressed from the Under-18s to join up with the club’s Primavera side before being called up to the senior team by coach Jose Mourinho’s at the start of the 2021-22 league season.
Afena-Gyan scored two goals and provided an assist in 22 appearances in all competitions for Roma.
AS Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto revealed his delight in Felix’s contract extension and showered praises on the teenager. He said;
“Felix has vast room for improvement and has the opportunity to make the most of that potential under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, a coach who is pivotal to the development of our young players.
“This contract extension also represents another demonstration of how the link between our first-team squad and our academy setup continues to get stronger.” He concluded.
Felix Afena-Gyan was rewarded for his performances by coach Otto Addo as he received a call-up into the Black Stars.
He made his debut for the Black Stars in the double mammoth World Cup qualification clash against Nigeria.
