Brazilian journalist, Marcus Carvalho, says Kotoko new signing, Michael Vinicius de Morais needs a psychologist to enjoy his stay in Ghana.

According to him, Vinicius had some psychological problems after he was banned for failing a doping test at Fluminense.

In 2013, the 27-year-old was caught in a doping test for cocaine use and ended up suspended.

In 2015, after days of absence from training, Michael almost had his contract terminated by Fluminense.

The striker was loaned by the Rio club for a few times and played at Criciúma, in 2014, at Estoril, in Portugal, in the first half of 2016, and at América Mineiro, in the second half of last year, where he played in the Brazilian Championship.

In 22 games played, he scored three goals.

“Well, Michael was a very talented player that first appeared in Fluminense which is a very important club here and Michael started to appear in 2012 since his beginning the professional team but unfortunately in 2013, an anti-doping test showed the use of cocaine so he has been banned for a while…

“Unfortunately, in Brazil, people remember him because his problems are more than his talent because of the drug issues,” he told the media.

Vinicius signed for Asante Kotoko on Wednesday, March 18, on a 2-and-a-half-year deal, becoming the second player from the popular football country to join the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko will be Michael’s 11th club in his professional career which started in his native country in 2014.

He has featured for the likes of Brazilian top-flight side Fluminense, Portugal’s GD Estoril Praia, Linkoping City and Vasalunds IF in Sweden where he scored 14 goals in 19 macthes.

Marcus believes Vinicius is talented player but insists he needs special attention to thrive at Kotoko.

“Yeah I think he could have a psychologist and when I say that it is not in a negative way. I’m thinking about his well-being like he’s talented, he has good things to offer so I think it’s good to have someone looking at him, listening to him, motivating him so he could give good results to Asante Kotoko,” he added.

However, Marcus didn’t expect Vinicius to move to an African club.
