Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency and Leader of the NPP caucus in the 8th Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has passed shocking comments about Asiedu Nketia of the opposition NDC over ballot snatching.
He said only “sick minds” will blame him for the Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah’s episode that played out in Parliament during the voting of a Speaker for Ghana’s 8th Parliament.
The leader’s comments is in sharp response to an attempt by the General Secratary in linking him to the infamous ballot paper snatching incident that took place on the floor of Parliament on January 7th 2021 almost a week ago.
Asiedu Nketia is quoted to have said during the opposition NDC Party’s Press briefing a day after the incident, that, from viral videos “you could see Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu talking to Carlos Ahenkorah seconds before the ballot papers snatching incident.”
Adding that, he is a master of sign languages so he knows what he was saying to that end when someone is gesticulating, he knows what they mean.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia program, monitored by TalksGhana.com Kyei Mensah Bonsu however stated that, whilst his eyes were fixated on the sorting and counting of the ballot peppers, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah approached him asking if the leadership of the NPP were going to allow the NDC to snatch the speakership position from them without a fight.
According to him, he had no idea what Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah was up to though he had beckoned him on the floor of parliament and had instructed him (to go away from him).
He further revealed that, he asked Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah to stay away from him and be saying those things so he is surprised for anybody to think that he is the one who goaded him to engage in what he did.
“It is only a sick mind who will think like that,” He fumed
Background
The Tema West MP has come under heavy backlashes after he was chased and ‘arrested” by Hon. Muntaka for snatching ballot papers during counting after MPs voted to elect a Speaker for the 8th Parliament.
After that failed attempt by the MP, a video went viral that painted the picture that Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu was either the mastermind behind the Tema West MP’s dishonourable act or that he was aware of what the latter intended to do.
