Let me start this piece of letter by first acknowledging the struggles my darling club above, went through from the beginning of the 2020/2021 season.
Just like other seasons gone by, Hearts Of Oak started this season too with with poor run of results so much to the displeasure of our fans and board members leading to the abrupt demotion of Coach Nii Odoom to our junior team, Auroras followed by the second coming of our Serbian trainer Kosta Papic.
You Missed This: Irate Hearts of Oak fans storm club secretariat to demonstrate against management
As you clearly know already, Kosta Papic’s reign started very well with some good results like the one against Bechem United where we trashed them 6-1 but after some weeks players started to question his selection and harsh methods, his perceived inability to fully gain the support of the players despite being liked by majority of Hearts fans etc and this led to his resignation as our Coach and the infamous press conference by our Captain Fatawu and the Hearts board which brought fans from both far and near, to the Hearts of Oak Secretariat to protest against the improper and unprofessional handling of their darling club they grew up cherishing.
Now, during this run of poor results and difficult moments of our club, a lot of drastic but positive changes happened which included the signing of Visionary Coach Samuel Boadu from Medeama together with his assistant Coach Hamza and a couple of other players who have come to prove themselves to be key players for the club. Players like Salifu Ibrahim, Caleb Amankwah have given the Continental Club Masters what they’ve been missing for some years now by blending well with stars like Emmanuel Nettey, Benjamin Afutu, etc and giving us good squad depth where in other years, A long absence due to injuries to some of our stars like Fredrick Ansah Botchwey, Emmanuel Nettey etc, would have proven to be a big blow for us as a club.
During our bad days no club official, fan base of a club, biased and lame journalists, saw our struggles and pointed out issues on and off the field that had gone against us or had favored us but now that we are conquering, these above-labeled names have come up with absurd conspiracy theories with a clear mastermind of an idea which will make us take our foot off the pedal. For us as the oldest club in Ghana and West Africa, we’re aware of this not so wise mastermind of theirs and for that matter, we are not going to fall prey to their absurdities.
What is getting my on nerves as a cherished fan of our local league and that of my darling club is the fact that one club, Kotoko is bent on undermining the hard work football stakeholders are doing to finally bring back the love for the game just for their selfish interest.
Now if what these killjoys of our football are saying is anything to go by, let them tell us…
Since when did they realize the GFA is favoring Heart Of Oak to win the league?
They should list all these notable favors that Hearts of oak have benefited
from such schemes by the GFA!
Just as I stated from the beginning, I’m an honest Hearts fan and i am not going to mince words by denying the fact that during the Hearts vrs Sharks game, the referee for the day, Maxwell Owusu made a significant mistake which affected the Elmina based Club i.e especially the the scenario leading to the red card as the penalty decision had rightly frustrated their player.
Safe to say the correct decision of the penalty to be retaken again was overlooked by the referee as he had seen his mistake and decided not to call for a retake of the penalty after goalkeeper Bawa moved out of his line with both foot to save Victor Aidoo’s penalty.
Now apart from this mistake which went in our favor, there has not been any other decision that has favored hearts of oak that I know about, I stand to be corrected though!
But I can point out a lot mistakes that have gone against my darling club too.
Would be brief by just giving you the games and the highlighted scenarios.
Hearts Vrs Karela United~ Patrick Razak was fouled in the box and we should have had a penalty! ✅3pts
Kotoko vrs Hearts ~ Razak Abalora popularly moved out of his line with both feet to save Isaac Mensah’s penalty! We should have gotten a retake!✅3pts.
Ashgold vrs Hearts was even the saddest one~ Kofi Mensah(GK for AshGold) moved out of his like with both feet to save Ovouka’s PK and then again an obvious FIFA-new rule which on handball was not respected against us leading to Hearts losing the ✅3points!
Again, in the last two days I read a story from footballGhana.com where I came across Asante Kotoko NCC quoted to have said “they will soon issue a statement calling on the Presidency of Ghana to know that the May 9th disaster could occur once again and we will force on our management to boycott the league if they insist on punishing Gyamfi without dealing with other offenders,”
First of All, who is Emmanuel Gyamfi in Ghana football that the Mighty ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK is afraid of? The Juju carrier of Kotoko? Or the shambolic Speedster?! It’s clear the unprofessional player did the unthinkable and has to be punished severely just like it is done everywhere!
Now, concerning the empty threats about what is expected to be a repeat of the May 9 disaster by the Kotoko NCC, let me equally reiterate that those days that Hearts of oak would consider the safety and sanctity of our game by letting go of some bad decisions by referees and officials in crucial moments like that of last season’s penalty incident which wasn’t supposed to be a penalty and the threats by some uncivilized Kotoko fans who resort to throwing off stuff onto the pitch to intimate officials are in the past and for that matter Hearts of oak fans this time around are up FOR ANYTHING they would do!!!
In conclusion, no genuine local football lover would deny the fact that,We need our referees to up their games to abreast themselves with the current rules of the game,
We need VAR in our game, And finally, that we need goal line technology in our game to help make our football more joyous to watch but to come up with conspiracy theories against a club that is doing so well just because you want to win at all cost won’t and shouldn’t be condoned by any football lover!
