Tariq Lamptey after arriving in Ghana this year for holidays has completed all necessary paperwork to represent Ghana and is pending clearance from FIFA to play for the Black Stars.
The 21 year old defender will be eligible to be selected in Black Stars squads as early as next week. Tariq has featured in the England U21 squad but has been left out for a while due to injury.
In May, it was announced that Lamptey was considering switching to Ghana with England U21 boss Lee Carsley saying that Lamptey has “asked to be left out of the squad for a bit of head space.
Lamptey was available at the Cape Coast Stadium as Ghana played Madagascar in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
On 31 January 2020, Lamptey completed a permanent transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, signing a three and a half year deal.
