Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana was shown a red card in Southampton’s 4-1 defeat against Leicester City in the English Championship.
Sulemana who was given his first minutes in the championship after making an injury return fouled Leicester City player James Justin during injury time after coming on in the second half.
English referee Bobby Madley without hesitation showed the Southampton man a straight res card for the dangerous tackle on his opponent.
Speaking after his side’s defeat, Southampton boss Martin said: “I’ve not seen it back, but it didn’t feel like a red card. James Justin said that it wasn’t a red card, but his reaction to the foul gave him it.
“The game was over anyway at that point. I will have a proper look at it and we will have a chance to appeal it.
Southampton will miss the services of Sulemana in their next three games.
