The Ministry of Gender and Social Protection has terminated the contract of the National Coordinator of Ghana’s School Feeding Programme, Mrs Gertrude Quashigah.
Her termination is with immediate effect and it comes weeks after the Criminal Investigations Department commenced its probe into alleged corruption in the Free SHS School Feeding programme.
In Mrs. Quashigah’s sack letter, which was signed by the Gender Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, no reason was given for the termination of contract.\

The letter directed her to handover all officials documents and property in her custody to the Chief Director of the Ministry.
“This is to inform you of the termination of your appointment as the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding programme. You will be paid one month’s salary in lieu of notice as stipulated in your contract agreement,” part of the letter stated.
Mrs Gertrude Quashigah was named the substantive national coordinator of the programme in March 2020 after taking over from Dr Kwame Adu-Nsiah whose contract was also terminated.
She was already serving as an acting coordinator for about a year before she was given the role officially.
