Asante Kotoko are reportedly heading to CAS to appeal against the 30-month ban handed to midfield sensation Richmond Lamptey.
The club’s management have announced that its heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in a bid to overturn the suspension of Richmond Lamptey.
Richmond Lamptey was given a 30-month ban from all football activities for his involvement in the match-fixing scandal between AshantiGold and Inter Allies.
The club’s released an official statement today 29th July, 2022. Check it out below;
“Management this morning have directed our legal team to begin processes at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in respect of the Richmond Lamptey’s appeal.” They concluded.
AshantiGold SC and Inter Allies were found guilty of match-fixing allegations during a game last season which ended 7-2 in favor of AshantiGold during the 2020/21 season.
The initial game was to end 7-0 in favour of AshantiGold SC but was abruptly disrupted by Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah.
The centre back subbed on in the second half intentionally scored two own goals to spoil the supposed bets which were staked.
Club officials and players who were involved in the game where handed hefty fines and ban by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee.
Asante Kotoko are however reluctant to lose their star midfielder for the upcoming season and therefore summoned CAS for further investigations.
