The Captain of the senior National football team of Ghana Andre Ayew has reveled that Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup will not be his last World Cup for Ghana.
Ayew who is 32 years has led the Black Stars of Ghana in three World Cups since making his senior National team debut in 2007.
The Captain has had over 100 appearances for the Black Stars of Ghana and many Ghanaians have said that the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar would be his last World Cup.
“I don’t look further than what’s coming,” Andre Ayew said when he was asked about the possibility of Qatar being his last World Cup.
“I think what is important is to keep working, being fit, being able to play numerous games as I am doing. As long as I continue like this, I don’t have an issue.
“We look at a lot of squads – Africa, Europe, players are playing in the national team at 37, 38…So I am not looking at the age, I am looking at me being fit and performing well,” Ayew responded.
Andre Ayew also captained the Ghana U20 team to win the U20 World Cup in 2009 as Ghana became the first African country to win that trophy.
Ayew has featured for his club Al Sadd 24 times this season and has helped his side to win the Qatari Stars League for the 2021/22 season.
