Predicted Asante Kotoko Lineup Against Great Olympics

Asante Kotoko will play as visitors to Accra Great Olympics this afternoon for what is meant to be a top-liner this weekend in the Ghana Premier League. Having secured a 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea last week at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium,Kotoko will be heading into the match in high spirits hoping to pick up the maximum to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Maraino Barreto will probably opt for the 4-4-2 formation.

Habib Mohammed will continue to play at his new role as the central mildfielder with Godfred Asiamah coming in to replace Fabio Gama due to accumulation of cards.

Asante Kotoko occupy the first position of the Premier League table and are ready to extend their lead if they bring down the Dade Boys this afternoon.

However, let us now have a look at how Mariano Barreto might set his Asante Kotoko side up against Annor Walker’s Great Olympics.

Razak Abalora (GK) – He will continue to operate in between the sticks for the Porcupines. The former WAFA shot-stopper secured clean sheets in his last game, and he would be hoping for more of the same in today’s game.

Samuel Frimpong (RB)- he is gradually taken over the right back spot due to improved performance lately under Barreto and he is likely to start at that position in this afternoon’s clash.

Abdul Ganiu (CB) and Yusif Mubarik (CB) will be expected to play at the heart of defense for  Kotoko defence against Great Olympics. The pair has been brilliant defensively this season for Kotoko and has also allowed the Porcupines to play higher up the pitch. Both the defenders complement each other’s qualities and have done well in the last three games they’ve played together.

Ibrahim Imoro (LB)- He will fill in on the other flank, as the left-back. Up against the dangerous attack of Olympics, the diminutive full-backs will be expected to stay compact and keep their shape at the back.

Habib Mohammed (CM)- His good performance against Berekum Chelsea might keep him in his new role for Kotoko.

Mudasiru Salifu (CM)- After coming back from injury,He has been very fantastic for Kotoko in midfield for Kotoko and he might continue to play in the central Midfield role this afternoon.

Godfred Asiamah (AM)- He will be coming in for the suspended Fabio Gama due to accumulated cards in the holding midfield position.

Emmanuel Gyamfi (RW)- He is expected to operate from the right side of the midfield. He has been a stand out for kotoko recently and could be in for tough time against Samuel Ashie Quaye.

Andy Kumi Francis (ST)- He has scored two goals in his two appearances for Kotoko and seems to be playing with confidence at the moment. He might lead the attack for kotoko in this afternoon’s game.
