Asante Kotoko will play Medeama SC this afternoon for what is meant to be a top-liner this weekend in the Ghana Premier League. Having drawn 0-0 against Accra Great Olympics last week at Accra Sports Stadium, Kotoko will be heading into the match in high spirits hoping to pick up the maximum to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Maraino Barreto will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation.
Habib Mohammed will continue to play at his new role as the central mildfielder with Godfred Asiamah and Fabio Gama completing the midfield.
Captain Emmanuel Gyamfi, Andy Francis Kumi and Auguestine Okrah also completing the attacking three.
The defensive set up may be the usual Samuel Frimpong, Abdul Ganiu, Yusif Mubarik and Ibrahim Imoro with Razak Abalora operating in between the sticks for the Porcupines.
Asante Kotoko occupy the first position on the table and are ready to extend their lead if they beat Medeama.

However, let us now have a look at how Mariano Barreto might set his Asante Kotoko side up against Yaw Preko’s Medeama SC.
Razak Abalora (GK) – He will continue to operate in between the sticks for the Porcupines. The former WAFA shot-stopper secured clean sheets in his last game against Olympics, and he would be hoping for more of the same in today’s game.
Samuel Frimpong (RB) – He is gradually taken over the right back spot due to his improved performance lately under coach Barreto and he is likely to start at that position in this afternoon’s clash.
Abdul Ganiu (CB) and Yusif Mubarik (CB) will be expected to play at the heart of defense for Kotoko defence against Medeama. The pair has been brilliant defensively this season for Kotoko and has also allowed the Porcupines to play higher up the pitch. Both defenders complement each other’s qualities and have done well in the last three games they’ve played together.
Ibrahim Imoro (LB)- He will fill in on the other flank, as the left-back. Up against the dangerous attack of Medeama, the diminutive full-back will be expected to stay compact and keep their shape at the back.
Habib Mohammed (CM)- His good performance the previous games might keep him in his new role for Kotoko.
Fabio Game(AM) – After missing out in the game against Olympics due to three accumulated cards,Fabio Gama will return in this afternoon’s game as an attacking midfielder.
Godfred Asiamah (AM)- He might start this afternnon’s game due to his impressive performance against Olympics
Emmanuel Gyamfi (RW)- He is expected to operate from the right side of the midfield. He has been a stand out for kotoko recently and could be in for tough time against the Medeama defenders.
Andy Kumi Francis (ST)- He has scored two goals in his two appearances for Kotoko and seems to be playing with confidence at the moment. He might lead the attack for kotoko in this afternoon’s game.
Augustine Okrah (LW)- The magic man is expected to operate from the left wing for kotoko after his absence in the game against Olympics due to injury. He has been playing very well since the arrival of Barreto and he is expected to help the porcupines to extend their stay on top of the league.
The Probable line up against Medeama:
Razak Abalora(GK), Samuel Frimpong (RB), Imoro Ibrahim (LB), Abdul Ganiu (CB), Mubarik Yussif (CB), Habib Mohammed (CM), Godfred Asiamah (AM), Fabio Gama(AM), Emmanuel Gyamfi (RW), Andy Kumi Francis (ST), Augustine Okrah (LW)
