The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a goalless draw against the Brave Warriors of Namibia in an Afcon-friendly game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Ghana Head Coach Chris Highton fielded a strong Starting Eleven which Included Goalkeeper Richard Ofori, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Dennis Odoi, Joseph Paintsil, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Ransford Yeboah, Elisha Owusu, Gideon Mensah and Baba Iddrisu for the game against Namibia.
The Brave Warriors of Namibia held their Pre-Afcon Canping in Ghana to prepare ahead of the tournament in IBory Coast started the game as they piled pressure on the Ghanaians in the first 20 minutes of the game. Ghana came close thereafter as Ransford Yeboah missed a seater to put the Black Stars ahead.
The game ended 0-0 at the end of the first Half. Both teams effected substitution before the start of the second half as Goalkeeper Ati Zigi was replaced by Richard Ofori whilst Jonathan Sowah came in to replace Inaki Williams of Ghana. The Black Stars came in strong in the second half as they created numerous chances in search of an opener but all efforts proved futile. The game ended in a stalemate as both sides were unable to find a goal after 90 minutes of action.
Ghana has been drawn in Group B of the 2023 AFCON tournament together with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique while Namibia faces South Africa, Tunisia, and Mali in the Group Stages of the Tournament.
The African Cup of Nations 2023 is scheduled to take place from January 13, 2023, to February 11 in Ivory Coast.
