Otoo Addo, the recently appointed Head Coach of Ghana, remains uncertain about selecting the first choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars
Prior to the International friendly Games, the newly appointed Ghana Coach announced the selection of three goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati Zigi, Joseph Wollacot, and Fredrick Asare from Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Ati Zigi took over in goal for the Black Stars during their recent 2-1 loss to Nigeria in an International Friendly, replacing Joseph Wollacot, who had been the starting goalkeeper during the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers but had to miss out on the World Cup due to a finger injury.
The Black Stars technical team faces a challenging decision regarding whether Joseph Wollacot, now recovered from injury, will reclaim his position as the first-choice coach for the Black Stars.
In a post-match interview, here is what Black Stars Head Coach Otoo Addo had to say.
“Joseph Wollacott at the moment is not playing in his club so it’s difficult to say that he will be the number one at the moment.”
“We will decide in June who will be the goalkeeper who will stand in the goal,”
The Black Stars will take on the Cranes of Uganda in their second International friendly game later today after a 2-1 defeat against Nigeria in their first game.
