Prince Opoku Agyemang scored a last-gasp penalty for Medeama in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Ashantigold at home on Sunday.

The lanky attacker scored from the spot-kick seven minutes into injury time to hand their first win in four matches. The mauve and yellows who went into the game as favourites had gone four games without a win following defeats to Aduana FC and WAFA and an away against Liberty Professionals.

The win takes them to the third spot in the standings with 43 points – three points behind leaders Accra Hearts of Oak.

Elsewhere in Cape Coast, Ebusua Dwarfs came from behind to beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 with Enoch Afram scoring the winner after the break. Michael Laryea scored the opener for Liberty Professionals. But the hosts produced a strong performance to level things through Seidu Abubakar.

Legon Cities scrapped further away from the relegation zone with a 2-0 win against two-time champions Aduana FC at the Accra Sports Stadium. Jonnah Attuquaye opened the scoring in the 14 minutes before Joseph Adjei connected from the spot to give them the second goal in the 57th minute.  The win takes the citizens to 11th place in the table with 32 points.

In Dawu, Ali Huzaif scored in either half as Dreams FC eased passed Bechem United 2-1 at the theatre of Dreams. Bechem United travelled to Dawu on the back of three defeats to Karela United, Hearts of Oak and Kingh Faisal. Ali Huzaif drew the first blood for Dreams FC in the 31st minute but Charles Mensah levelled matters nine minutes later as the first half ended 1-1.

In the 68th minute, Huzaif scored from the spot – what became the match winner after Dreams FC were handed a penalty.

In Berekum, Diawusie Taylor scored against Berekum Chelsea to take his season tally to 15 goals after 26 round of matches as Karela United played out a 1-1 draw at the Golden City Park.

The two goals came in the second half after failing to score in the first half in which the two teams failed to take their chances.

Taylor broke the deadlock in the 56th minute as Karela United. But Chelsea recovered 13 minutes later with Stephen Amankonah scoring the equaliser.

King Faisal climbed up the table after posting a 1-0 win against Elmina Sharks at the Nduom stadium. Kwadwo Frimpong scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute to give Faisal all the spoils. They managed the lead very well to secure their second away win in the season and move two places up to 14th in the League standings.

Earlier on Friday, Accra Hearts of Oak moved to the top of the table after beating Eleven Wonders 1-0 at the Ohene Ameyaw Park at Techiman. Kwadwo Obeng Jnr scored the only goal of the game after capitalizing on a Tetteh Nortey error.

Later on Saturday, Asante Kotoko gave away an early lead to draw 1-1 against WAFA at the Len Clay stadium. Justus Torsutsey scored in the 44th minute to cancel Ismail Ganiyu’s 2nd minute penalty.

And finally, Abdul Manan Mudasiru pulled yet another feat as he came off the bench to score the winning goal for Accra Great Olympics against Inter Allies at the Accra sports stadium. Mudasiru scored the only goal of the match in the 76th minute after latching on to a delicious pass from the left side to smash home.  The win means Great Olympics move to 43 points from 26 games.
