Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Johnson Smith has indicated that, there is no player creating unhealthy competition for Kwame Opoku in the attacking area.
He made this revelation at the post-match interview after the porcupine warriors beat International Allies by a goal to nil on matchday 12 at Accra Sports Stadium.
According to Johnson Smith, “for now there is no competition in upfront”. When quizzed why he named three keepers in his 18 man squad, he attributed it to many injuries in camp
“We dressed three goalkeepers in our 18 man squad because there is a lot of injuries which has reduced the outfield players in our team”
However, Johnson Smith is seemingly satisfied with the performance of his team, claiming that the team has strength in depth in the defensive setup.
“I think my boys did well, they played to my instruction and they were tactically disciplined. You realized that they don’t kick the ball anyhow, they played like midfielders or attackers,” he said
Kumasi Asante Kotoko is now 3rd on the League table.
