The Confederation of African Football has awarded Morocco the right to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations ahead of other three bidders involving Nigeria/Benin, Zambia and Algeria.
The Arabic-speaking nation pulled out 22 votes to win the hosting right as the other two contenders all came out with zero votes each at the CAF executive committee meeting in Cairo today.
The North African Country presented a bid after CAF stripped off the initial hosting right from Guinea due to the unreadiness of Facilities in the West African Country.
Morocco will be hosting the African Cup of Nations tournament after hosting it in 1988. The country has already presented a joint bid alongside Portugal and Spain to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup after the Moroccan Men’s National Football team reached the semi-finals in the 2022 World Cup tournament.
Meanwhile, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host the 2027 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)
