Former Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana Asamoah Gyan has come out to defend criticism on Ghana’s young sensation Felix Afena Gyan.
Felix Afena Gyan who plays his club football for Italian Giants As Roma made his debut for the Black Stars of Ghana in March during Ghana’s World Cup qualifying campaign against Nigeria.
Felix Afena has featured in four games for the Black stars and has scored only one goal. Ghanaians are calling for the teenager to be left out of the Black Stars starting line up because he has not lived to expectations.
In a tweet cited by Talksghana.com Asamoah Gyan had this to say about Felix Afena Gyan.
“He is doing some good things upfront. His hold-up play is not bad. All the team needs to do is to have confidence in him and supply the balls anytime he makes a run through the channels. Striker gives up when he runs a lot and there is no supply. Midfielders have to take risk.”
Afena Gyan his only goal for Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar.
