Matchday 6 of the Ghanaian Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League came to an entertaining end with some interesting and mindblowing results at various centers.
The Games which started on Friday, Dec 1 2023 saw Essiam Socrates hold Debutants Jonina Ladies to a 0-0 draw at the Anti Aku Stadium in the Southern zone. Also in the Northern Zone on Friday, Mabel Doe Martey scored early for Supreme Ladies but was not enough to hand them all three points at Samadu Rashida’s equalizer for Perlpia Ladies in the 52nd minute made it 1-1 after Full time.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies continued their winning form in the league as they put two past Prison Ladies. Ophelia Anponsah and Mabel Amoyaw scored all two goals for the defending WPL champions in their backyard. Edith Sasaokor Zubanu scored in the 36th minute for Prison Ladies but it was Ampem Darkoa that stole the three points on the day.
Games continued on Saturday as Dreamz Ladies drew 1-1 with Fosu Royal Ladies in the Northern Zone, Tamale Super Ladies were shocked as Comfort Baah Nuako scored in the 86th minute to hand Ashtown ladies vital three points away from home.
There were no goals between Police Ladies and Sea Lions in the Southern Zone, Soccer Intellectuals and Hasaccas Ladies also ended Goaless as Fakiha Alhassan scored a 96th-minute equalizer for Berry Ladies to make it 1-1 against Army Ladies. Portia Sakyiwaa of Berry Ladies won the Woman of the Match award after a superb display against Army Ladies. Patient Adomaa of Soccer Intellectuals Won the Most Valuable Player Award against Hasaccas Ladies.
Kumasi Sports Academy and Northern Ladies wrapped up Matchday 6 of the Women’s Premier League. Northern Ladies recorded a huge 4-1 win over rivals KUSA in the Northern Zone. Mary Rose Akunne scored a brace as Celestina Boye and Mohammed Wasiima scored the second and third goals respectively.
