Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah has vowed that her outfit will ensure the growth of seedlings planted as part of the Green Ghana project.
This comes at the backdrop of a directive issued by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey to Metropolitan Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) under its auspices to ensure the sustainability of the exercises and submit a report on the status of trees planted in their jurisdictions in three months’ time.
“I want to charge the MMDCEs across the region to ensure that not even one tree dies. As part of their responsibilities, I want to declare here and now that they should bring us reports after three months,” Henry Quartey said.
Further speaking the MCE of Ayawaso West mentioned that the assembly is in partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to supply them with water, daily to sprinkle the seedlings within the whole municipality.
Hon. Owusu Ahinkorah urged residents to take care of the seedlings in a bid that the trees flourish.
“We will also talk to the residents and beg them to that in front of their houses they should be responsible for taking care of the seedlings in frontage of their housing. We have to do this together, it’s not just the assembly,” she stated.
