Spanish born Ghanaian player Nico Williams has been invited by the the Spanish Football Federation ahead for their friendly games ahead of the world cup just few months after his senior brother Inaki Williams completed his nationality switch to Ghana.
Ghanaians were disappointed upon hearing the news because they thought arrangements were been put in place for Nico Williams to also switch nationality to play for Ghana.
The invite by Spanish Head Coach Luis Enrique has been described as an attempted to stop the youngster from representing Ghana in the future.
Luis Enrique has in an interview rubbish all rumors and show his love to the player (Nico William)
“I’m not doing this to stop from him going with Ghana; he’s young and a very interesting player,” he said as quoted by British newspaper, the Guardian.
“He’s playing more often with Athletic now. He’s progressing wonderfully. I like him enormously. We’ve had him in the junior squad and have been following him for a long time. I reckon the family will be delighted: imagine the party if they both go to the World Cup. And they reach the final, well, that would be the absolute business.” he added
Both brothers (Nico and Inaki) Williams are likely to play at the Qatar 2022 FiFAQatar 2022 FiFA World Cup where they will represent Spain and Ghana respectively
