Hearts of Oak former skipper Dan Quaye has disclosed the Phobians lack the experience to compete in Africa and urges club supporters lower their expectations this season.
The Phobians will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup this season having won the 2022 MTN FA Cup.
Hearts Of Oak will take on Mali side AS Bamako in the preliminary round first leg this weekend.
Ahead of the game ex-Phobian Dan Quaye has stressed the side still lacks what it takes to excel in Africa and believes the experience and quality to play in Africa is very low.
Speaking to Hot FM, the veteran said;
“People should lower their expectations on Hearts of Oak going to Africa. They lack experienced players and have a lower standard of quality.
“The side still lacks what it takes to compete with the best there in Africa and last season’s failure will repeat itself.
“When you look at Hearts three games in the league it will tell you the club still isn’t strong enough” He concluded.
Hearts of Oak will welcome AS Bamako at the Accra Sports Stadium for the first leg encounter of the tie over the weekend.
Subsequently, the Phobians will travel to Mali next weekend for the reverse fixture.
