Head coach of the Ghana senior male national team, Black Stars, CK Akonnor has axed eight players from the team’s squad preparing for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana face South Africa and Sao Tome and Princepe in a double-header AFCON qualifiers in March this year.
Coach CK Akonnor initially named 32-man home-based players to prepare for the two matches but has dropped eight players from the team after first camping.
Elmina Sharks goalkeeper Bawa Lord Martey has been dropped alongside Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan, Ebusua Dwarfs duo of Ben Acquah and George Asamoah.
Others include; Salifu Ibrahim of Eleven Wonders, Michael Agbekornu of Dreams FC, Evans Etti from Accra Lions, Francis Andy Kumi of Unistar Academy and Welbeck Takyi of Tano Bofoakwa.
Coach Akonnor has however handed call ups to Emmanuel Boateng of Darlin Pro and Mubarak Wakaso of Jiangsu Sunning in China.
The Black Stars resume camping on Thursday for the final preparation ahead of the two matches.
