A Church elder believed to be in his early forties is currently facing traditional authorities at Ayiem in the Mpohor district of the Western Region for allegedly raping a married woman.
The husband of the victim, Kwesi Adams who narrated the incident in an interview with Skyy Power FM in Takoradi monitored by Talksghana.com indicated that the alleged rapist, one Thomas Gyapong who is an elder with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the area raped his wife on two different occasions.
He indicated that the perpetrator followed his wife to the farm where he carried out the act whilst he (the husband) was out for other duties.
He adds that the church elder threatened his wife and forced her into committing the act on the farm. He noted that even though his wife was not willing to entertain the church elder, she had to oblige for the fear of her life.
The church elder had sex with the terrified wife and after satisfying himself, he left the farm. Mr. Kwesi Adams indicated that the incident happened in August last year, but his wife was unable to tell him for the fear of being divorced.
According to him, he later got to know but when he reported the incident to the police he was refused the needed attention.
“I have summoned him to the traditional authorities and the case will be held soon. I was due to engage my wife last year December but it could not happen due to the incident.
I don’t understand why a church elder will go to this extent. I get worried about my wife anytime I see her. She looks worried but I cannot blame her” Mr. Kwesi Adams narrated.
