BONO EAST: Agric Minister to punish syndicates selling Gov’t subsidized fertilizers at higher prices to sabotage Planting for Food & Jobs program

Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Minister for Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has seriously cautioned Agric Officials who connive with Agro Dealers to sell Government’s subsidized fertilizers to unsuspecting farmers at higher prices to immediately desist from such practices or face the full wrath of the laws of Ghana.

According to him these and many other illegal activities by some unpatriotic Citizens do not amount to only stealing from the nation’s coffers but also sabotage the President Nana Akuffo Addo led NPP Government’s relentless efforts to make Agriculture attractive and improve the livelihoods of farmers especially the Planting for Food and Jobs program.

The Agric Minister made this disclosure to in Techiman when he paid a working visit to the Bono East region where he nonetheless commended the regional Minister Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan and the MoFA director Mrs. Cecilia Kagya-Agyeman for their extraordinary performances in the area of seed security.

Akwamu Hene of Techiman, Nana Owusu Gyare II on behalf of Nananom noted that the Bono East region from time immemorial does so well in plant and animal farming producing food stuffs like tubers, rice, vegetables and fruits as well as cash crops especially cashew and cocoa hence government should always support them.
