The senior national table tennis team of Ghana, the Black Loopers, are winding up their preparations for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Under the tutelage of Chief Coach Anthony Owusu-Ansah, the team is prepping on strategies for the tournament.
The players have acclimatised to the weather and are confident of a good performance.
Captain of the team, Derek Abrefa said he is confident the team would put up a splendid performance to hoist high the flag of Ghana.
He said, “We have been here for a week and we have been practicing on the tournament tables. Everything is going on well with us. As ambassadors, we will make the nation proud.”
The team is represented by Derek Abrefa, Emmanuel Commey, Emmanuel Asante, Emmanuel Ofori, Cynthia Kwabi and Millicent Ankude.
The table tennis team is led by the President of the Association, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu.
Ghana is represented at the quadrennial multi-sport competition with 101 athletes who would compete in 13 disciplines namely Table Tennis, Swimming, Boxing, Badminton, Athletics, Hockey, Triathlon, cycling, para-cycling, weightlifting, Beach Volleyball, Judo, and Squash.
