As earlier reported by Talksghana.com that Bechem United talisman Augustine Okrah has rejected Black Stars call up, the player has come out to clarify to Ghanaians on why he rejected the call up.
In an interview, Augustine Okrah said that he was not fully fit and could not go with the Black Stars to the tournament in Japan. He then informed the Managers of the team about his situation on why he thinks he should be left out of the team.
Here’s the players response as quoted by Sports Journalist Owuraku Ampofo.
“Lord Zico told me [about the Black Stars callup for the Japan tournament], but the condition I was in [injured], I could not go and disgrace myself.”
“As a player, if you’re not fit and you don’t play well in the national team, they may not call you again.”
“I told Lord Zico to let the officials of the Black Stars be aware of my condition and that I cannot report to camp”
Ghana play Japan in the first game of the Kirin tournament on June 19.
