AshantiGold SC will play in the Division Two League next season after losing their match-fixing appeal.
The Obuasi-based side were sanctioned by the GFA Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of match-fixing allegations in their games with Inter Allies last season.
The Disciplinary committee announced that both teams involved will be demoted to Division Two and revealed sanctions to the players involved.
Reports have indicated that the Appeal’s Committee has dismissed AshantiGold SC appeal and upheld the Disciplinary Committee’s decision.
The Miners will therefore play in the lower tier league for the upcoming 2022/2023 next season. Club President, Dr Kwaku Frimpong, and Chief Executive, Emmanuel Frimpong both will serve their long-term bans after playing a role in the match of convenience claims.
Ghana FA has scheduled the next ordinary congress for Thursday, August 18, ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season.
The demotion and promotion of clubs in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), National Division One League (DOL), and Women’s Premier League will be approved by Congress.
