The Ghana Football Association have postponed the Ashanti Derby clash between league leaders Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC for security concerns.
The news broke up less than 24 hours with the game sceduled due to take place today Thursday 19th May, 2022 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
AshantiGold SC earlier on in the week were sanctioned by the GFA Disciplinary Committee after being found guilty of the allegations found towards of match-fixing.The Miners were relegated straight to Division Two with the sanction taking effect from the 2023 league campaign.
Dr Kwaku Frimpong, President of AshGold, and Emmanuel Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of the club, have both all been banned from football related activities.
The question of why the Miners are still permitted to be playing in the ongoing league has been aroused.
AshantiGold SC playing body are reportedly to be down physiologically and legitimacy of them not being competitive has been a major concern since they will be demoted at the end of the season, thus with club supporters heart to the wire, security concerns will be a deter for today’s game.
