Accra Hearts Of Oak Board Member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has issued a plea to the technical team of the Black Stars to include veteran striker Asamoah Gyan in Ghana’s squad for the Mundial.
According to him, the former Al Ain hitman still has the qualities and could change the game for the team when given the opportunity.
The Black Stars after missing out on the last World soccer piece in Russia 2018, have qualified for the fourth time and will be part of the 32-teams to compete at the global showpiece scheduled in Qatar this year.
Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, the former GFA boss insisted that the coach Otto Addo and his technical team include Asamoah Gyan in the squad for the upcoming 2022 Qatar World Cup. He said;
“I still insist we take Asamoah Gyan to the World Cup. He still has all the qualities and I believe he will be in the best shape for the tournament.
“We could give him 10 to 15 minutes of playing time each time because I think he can change games, he is one person I can trust” He concluded.
Asamoah Gyan, 36, has not been actively involved in football since making a sensational return to the Ghana Premier League to join Legon Cities on October 21 in the 2020–2021 league season; he left in April 2021 after a bad season.
Gyan, the former Black Stars captain, announced his intention to travel to Qatar; he is engaging in personal training in order to regain his fitness before the tournament begins next month.
The ex-Sunderland forward is Africa’s leading goal scorer at the World Cup, with six goals across three tournaments.
