Renowned Sports Journalist CountryMan Songo has defended the call to include Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup.
According to the Fire Man, Asamoah Gyan is currently better than all of the Black Stars strikers and believes he should be included in the squad.
Asamoah Gyan affirmed his desire to join the Black Stars for the upcoming 2022 World Cup and has availed himself for call-up.
The former Sunderland hitman believes he still has time on his career and revealed he is training intensively to be fit for the tournament.
Speaking on his regular Fire for Fire Show, CountryMan Songo lambasted all of Asamoah Gyan’s critics. He said;
“You are all jokers if you think Asamoah Gyan shouldn’t make it to the World Cup.He is the best we have currently in the country.
“His abilities and experience will be very much needed going into such a big tournament and we should all be happy about such a decision.
“If we are chasing the likes of Inaki Williams to come lead the attack of the Black Stars then Asamoah Gyan should be called up” He concluded.
Asamoah Gyan in an interview with BBC World Service said;
“Talent wise everything is already in place, I just have to be physically fit.
“The World Cup is every footballer’s dream and I’ve got enough energy to me prove my self once again.
“It’s almost two years I got myself injured and I just need to train more and get my self back in shape.
“I haven’t announced my retirement yet, everything can happen in the future .This has occurred before when Roger Milla in 1994 played for Cameroon after retirement” Gyan stressed.
Asamoah Gyan scored 51 goals in 101 appearances for the Black Stars and have appeared in all three of Ghana’s World Cup campaigns.
