The 2021 edition of the annual Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards night was honoured on Friday, 17th December 2021 at the Accra International Conference Centre with Ghana’s Vice President, his excellency Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as the special guest of honour.
The visionary digital man as he has come to be known in recent times mounted the podium basically to enlighten local football clubs on the need to go digital as a means of generating funds off-the-pitch.
Dr Bawumia did a presentation on how traditional clubs with a large following like Hearts, Kotoko and Real Tamale United can rake in a lot of income through digitization.
“ Teams like Accra Hearts of Oak, Kotoko and my team Real Tamale United can make huge sums of money on digitization should they champion it” – He quipped.
Further, he spoke of how clubs of smaller status like King Faisal Babes FC can equally capitalize on digitization to break even.
“Alhaji Grusah’s King Faisal can as well make something out of their standard as a small club with their supporters.”
The Vice President has been on a digitization tour over the last few weeks drumming home the need for institutions to go digital to ensure efficiency in their field of operation.
The annual SWAG awards is an award scheme organized by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to reward sports personalities and journalists of Ghanaian descent who have excelled in their respective field of endeavors in a calendar year.
