The decision by the president to be the first person to get vaccinated against Covid-19 will help with monitoring and also encourage Ghanaians to get vaccinated themselves which comes at no cost. This was revealed by the presidential advisor on health in an interview with TV3.

AstraZeneca and sputnik Covid vaccines is expected in the Ghana by the close of this week.

There have been mixed reactions among Ghanaians against taking the shot of the vaccine. This is because of the side effects which is not familiar with them. The reactions after taking the vaccine shot is normal according to Dr. Nsiah Asare,
    presidential health advisor.

“President Akufo-Addo will be the first to be vaccinated. This is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccine is safe and any other reactions like headache, dizziness, or pains are all usual with every vaccination” he said.

Call centres and application for the vaccine booking and monitoring exercise is being set up for the exercise. he added.

“We are even thinking of introducing apps, so that people can book for the vaccinations. We will also set up call centers and send SMS to people on the dates and times of their vaccination”

it is in the interest of the country for citizens to get vaccinated and control the virus, the reason the president is taking the first shot, according to him.

“We encourage everyone to avail themselves for the vaccine. It is safe and we want other Ghanaian abroad to also put out their videos to encourage others in Ghana”.

The vaccination begins in March and about 20 million Ghanaians are estimated to be vaccinated.
