The Black Stars of Ghana secured a 2-2 draw against the Pharaohs of Egypt during the second group game of the 2023 Total Energies African Cup of Nations on Thursday night.
Mohammed Kudus, the standout player from West Ham, netted twice for the Black Stars in the 45th and 71st minutes. However, defensive errors allowed Marmoush Omar and Mustafa Mohammed to equalize, nullifying Kudus Mohammed’s goals for Ghana.
Despite winning the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance against the Pharaohs, the Ghanaian expressed disappointment with the game’s outcome.
Kudus Mohammed is confident that the Black Stars of Ghana can secure all three points in the final group game against Mozambique, ensuring their qualification for the next stage of the competition.
“It is a mixed feeling because an impact like this, you would want the three points but we have to move on and focus on the next game.
“I was doing my best and as you could see, I was fit and thankfully, I was able to help the team and like I said, it was a disappointing result because we wanted the three points.
“Everyone gave their best but we have to focus on the next game. We will go all out for the three points in the next game and that is the focus,” he added.
On Monday, Ghana is set to face the Mambas of Mozambique at the Alssane Ouatarra Stadium in Abidjan.
