League leaders Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways this afternoon after a period of difficulty where the Porcupines failed to win a game.
The Porcupines secured all maximum points and bragging rights as they faced inform Medeama SC away at the Akoon Park.
Andrew Appau gave the Porcupines Warriors an early lead in the first half after lashing in a powerful header from a resulting free kick from Moro Ibrahim after dominating most if the exchanges of the game.
They soon found themselves 2-0 up after a nice footwork by striker Frank Mbella Etouga round the keeper to slot home his 20th goal of the season.
Medeama SC kept pressing for an equaliser but all their efforts at goal proved futile after Asante Kotoko midfielder Mudasiru Salifu saw red in the latter part of the first half. They came close to scoring in the second half but failed to convert any of the numerous chances created.
Asante Kotoko held on to the 10-men to finish the game 2-0 victors as they stretch the lead on top of the league standings.
With just three league fixtures to end the season, the Porcupines now need a win in their next game to secure the Premier league crown.
